Spread by the Sword

OIC Statement by Ambassador Masood Khan on “Incitement to Racial and Religious Hatred and the Promotion of Tolerance” at The Human Rights Council, Geneva, 21 September 2006

Two, Islam was not spread by the sword. There is no coercion in Islam. The Quran enjoins: “There is no compulsion in religion.” (2:256). This is a grund norm in Islam. The Qur’an summons people to peace and says if you kill one innocent person it is like you have killed the entire humanity (5:32). There are instances in history where converts have been discouraged from embracing Islam if they were not fully convinced and were not doing so of their free will.

      When the children of a woman (in pre-Islamic days) did not survive, she took a vow on herself that if her child survives, she would convert it a Jew. When Banu an-Nadir were expelled (from Arabia), there were some children of the Ansar (Helpers) among them. They said: We shall not leave our children. So Allah the Exalted revealed; “Let there be no compulsion in religion. Truth stands out clear from error.”

   3. Sahih  Bukhari Volume 6, Book 60, Number 80:
      

      Narrated Abu Huraira:

      The Verse:–“You (true Muslims) are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind.” means, the best of peoples for the people, as you bring them with chains on their necks till they embrace Islam.

   4. Sahih Muslim Book 019, Number 4380: …I extend to you the invitation to accept Islam. Embrace Islam and you will be safe. Accept Islam, God will give you double the reward. And if you turn away, upon you will be the sin of your subjects.”  …

Sahih Bukhari Volume 9, Book 92, Number 447: …Allah’s Apostle then said to them, “That is what I want; embrace Islam and you will be safe.” They said, “You have conveyed the message, O Aba-al-Qasim.” Allah’s Apostle then said to them, “That is what I want,” and repeated his words for the third time and added, “Know that the earth is for Allah and I want to exile you from this land, so whoever among you has property he should sell it, otherwise, know that the land is for Allah and His Apostle.”

   1. Consider the succeeding verse Surah Al-Ma’idah 33
      1. 5:33. The recompense of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and do mischief in the land is only that they shall be killed or crucified or their hands and their feet be cut off on the opposite sides, or be exiled from the land. That is their disgrace in this world, and a great torment is theirs in the Hereafter.

Mere disbelief in Allah is sufficient to subject Kuffar to the penalties listed in Al-Ma’idah 33. Why don’t Muslims and their apologists quote that ayeh to us?

What if I don’t embrace/accept Islam? I won’t be safe or secure, will I? Peace on him who follows the guidance; what’s on one who refuses–war? Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 53, Number 386 tells us what hapened to Persia: it  was invaded.

Moe told his generals to invite Kuffar to Islam and fight them if they refused. Clearly Islam’s canon of scripture, tradition & jurisprudence proves Ambassador Masood Khan to be a liar.
